Non-Hearthstone related questions for Ben Brode

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 02:49 PM PDT

Hey Mr. Brode! I loved you interview video in regards to answering community questions. They were very well thought out and informative. I was hoping you could see this and answer some non-Hearthstone related questions!

1) What is your favorite non-Blizzard game?

2) What is your favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat?

3) Are there any inter-department competitions that we should be aware of?

4) When you became Hearthstone Director, were you prepared for how many videos you would be doing?

5) Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to?

Now is the time to play Milhouse! He only has 1 card in his hand, what could go wrong?

What if the Blizzard team made Golden cards like this?

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 03:03 AM PDT

I've finally have a copy of every Epic card from the Classic set. When I first started playing, this card cost 8 mana.

Make dungeon run offline.

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 12:39 AM PDT

I am addicted to hearthstone and my job involves travelling remote places quite frequently. I usually do not get good internet connection on my mobile data. Now since the new expansion witchwood will also have a dungeon run, can blizzard make them offline?

The rewards are also not that special, so there won't be any exploitation involved in offline mode.

Drawing Sapphire Spellstone from Ancestral Knowledge doesn't count towards the upgrade unlike other spellstones.

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 10:30 AM PDT

I'm just wondering why this is this case. Drawing Amethyst spellstone from Kobold Librarian upgrades, drawing Jasper spellstone from UI upgrades. I'm sure there's some reason in which the cards resolve that sapphire isn't eligible. Just wondering what's up with this inconsistency.

When memes collide

Because Blizz is getting rid of the keyword "Enrage", I think it's appropriate to ask why is "Counter" still a keyword?

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 05:17 PM PDT

I know this has been asked possibly hundreds of times, but why is Counter a keyword when it shows up on only one card, Counterspell? They got rid of Enrage because it was underused, but Counter is the least used keyword of all time.

Finally I did it. Played 50+ games agaist Lord Victor Nefarian and 30+ games against Maloriak

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 11:59 AM PDT

With Enrage change, Angry Chicken will be removed from Build-a-Beast's 2nd pick's pool.

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 05:43 PM PDT

I just wanted to bring this up for those who might not realize, or remember, that build-a-beast's second option will only show beasts with no text, or keywords only. With enrage's keyword being removed, Angry Chicken will be removed from the bucket of "Keyword Beasts" for build-a-beast.

That's it, just an observation. Hopefully blizzard will remember that they have to do this, or relocalize all the zombeasts, else zombeast's with angry chicken might still have the enrage text (since Zombeasts text are localized manually apparently).

Lich King should be included to classic set.

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 09:25 PM PDT

So I was watching that Wired video where Brode was answering some questions from fans. So in an answer to the question

In the future will they add more cards into the classic set"

Ben said

The classic set was meant to set the baseline fantasy of warcraft in the hearthstone universe.I think we will bring some back

So I think Lich King fits in this description perfectly therefore that card should be into their consideration whenever they will be thinking of adding more cards into the classic set.

Simple lore of all HS Legendaries (R+S)

Posted: 20 Mar 2018 05:49 PM PDT

F+G H+I J+K L+M N+O+P ¨ Hello, this episode is gonna be a bit rushed, I wasn't to give it the time I needed and I feel sorry about it. Anyway feel free to ask any additional story and the next episode might come a bit late too, as I wanna give it the time needed to produce well put informative piece. As always, let me know of any mistakes, comment for additional info and share your thoughts :)

Ragnaros the Firelord is the elemental lord of fire since the dawn of the planet. He resided in the elemental plane Firelands and was one day summoned in the mortal plane by Emperor Thaurissan who seeked an upper hand in defeating his rivalous dwarven clans. Upon completing the summon, Ragnaros enslaved the Emperor and all his dark iron dwarfs. He made the Blackrock Mountain into his base of operation on Azeroth until adventurer's sent him back to his elemental plane by slaying him. Later he assaulted the night elven sacred Mt. Hyjal. He lures advnturers and Malfurion into Firelands so his mightiest warriors deal with them, but we eventually slay Ragnaros for good.

Ragnaros, Lightlord. If anything Peter Whalen said about Lyra the Sunshard is true, than Ragnaros's light version should be just as powerful and important as Lyra. Of course this is just an alternative version, where he breaks from the will of Old Gods and does his own thing.

Raza the Chained is an Etherial who instead of wraps uses chains to bound his magical fleeing body. Nothing special here, he's unique to HS.

Rend Blackhand. Blackrock clan orcs refuse to acknowledge Thrall's Horde, as they believe their previous leadership of the horde grants them any ruling lineage. Gul'Dan and his warlocks were magically aging young orcs because they were running out of soldiers, and so Rend kinda missed his childhood. He's like 10 year old. He rules his pseudo Horde from inside the Blackrock Mountain, where he allied himself with Nefarian.

Reno Jackson. Not much to say about Reno that isn't obvious from the adventures. He's unique to HS.

Rhok'delar used to be the most lucrative weapon a hunter could acquire. There was a long ass quest chain to gain the trust of night elven ancient treants that would grant you the bow. Lorewise, the bow was used by elven defenders against the first demon invasion.

Rhonin is a mage adventurer. He saved Alexstrasza from orcs who found out they could enslave her by using Dragon Soul. Then Nozdormu asked him to check out some time anomally, which sucked him ten thousand years back in time during the first demonic invasion, where he aided Malfurion, Illidan and Tyrande in defeating the demons. For his numerous experience he was voted to be the Archmage of Dalaran and later sacrificid himself to save Jaina when Garrosh dropped a bomb on her city.

Rin, the First Disciple. Not a thing about either Rin or Azari. sry

Rotface is a masterpiece of an zombie that Professor Putricide created.

Scourgelord Garrosh. You can read the comic about how Garrosh would became the Scourgelord, or you can read all about the most interesting character Blizzard has ever created within WoW. Garrosh was constantly living in the shadow of his father Grommash Hellscream, his papa was the first orc to accept the demon blood, dooming whole orcish race and then he redeemed himself by slaying the demon donor Magtheridon, freeing orcs from the curse. He did all this while Garrosh was quarantined with red pox in remote village on Draenor. The orcs opened portal to Azeroth, then in got close by Khadghar and opened once again by demon lords. This time Thrall ventured into Draenor (now called Outland) and offered Garrosh a place in his new cool Horde- also have him his father's axe, the Goregowl. Made him a general and after a succesful Northrend campaign, Garrosh quickly became Thralls top men. When Thrall needed some space for smoking weed and communicating with, like, the elements, dude, he gave the Warchief mantle to Garrosh. Somewhen during this time Cairne Bloodhoof challeged him to 1v1 to settle a fued they had. Unknownst to Garrosh, someone spiked his weapon with poison and so he killed Cairne. Under Garrosh's leadership the Horde found the long time hidden continent of Pandaria, and Garrosh began to search it for resources and powerful artifacts. One of those artifact was the Heart of Y'shaarj. In his arrogance he consumed the heart and it increased his pride, made him think he's better than anyone else, he kicked out all non-orcs from the Horde capital and this sprung up the horde civil war. He was defeated as the non-orcish horde rebels got together with the Alliance. During the trial he escaped using the power of a bronze dragon he befriended and traveled back in time to the good old days, where orcs were still orcs. To his homeland of Draenor before the orcs drank the icky demon stuff. He convinced his father Grommash to not drink it and instead form a mighty Horde free of any demonic influence. Unfortunatelly Thrall followed him to the past and challenged him to an honorable duel. Thrall is a giant pussy ass bitch tho and cheated, which resulted in Garrosh dying, unfairly.

Sergeant Sally is not even a real law enforcment officer. There's no police force in Gadgetzan. Sally just takes to the streets, catching criminals. Like a small angry Batman.

Shadowreaper Anduin. You can read the Anduin comic here.

Shaku, the Collector is pretty interesting. Even tho he is completly unique to HS, there is some speculations to be had. He is being of Sha, the elements of negative energies produced by the 7 severed heads of Y'shaarj. This one tho seems to be sentient, as he wears armor, speaks language and even likes to collect stuff.

Sherazin, the Corpse Flower. In the upcoming of Un'goro crater release, Blizzard added a small event into WoW called Un'goro Madness, where they added a few of the HS bosses as rare enemies in the zone. Sherazin is one of those.

Shifter Zerus is hard to spot in WoW, because he keeps shifting into other beings.

Sindragosa was Malygos's wife. When Deathwing betrayed the dragons and used the Dragon Soul against them, Sindragosa was one of the many blue dragons that died that day, her lifeless body plummeted in the snow somewhere in the icy cold Northrend. Centuries later when Lich King ruled the frozen continent, he seeked out Sindragosa's corpse to raise her as his most powerful frost wyrm.

Sir Finley Mrrgglton was adopted as an egg by Elise the Starseeker and trained to be an archeologist under the Explorer's League. He is the first HS unique character to be added to WoW.

Skull of the Man'ari is the skull of the first Eredar to meddle with demonic magic. Archimonde executed him, but his immense demon power resided deep in his severed head. After the Eredar all join under burning legion, the skull served as a powerul artifact. Man'ari is the nickname for corrupted Eredars.

Skycap'n Kragg. During TGT, he was pretty much unique. Just one of the crazy jousters. But in the upcoming WoW expansion, they actually added him to the game as a mercenary pirate who occupies the trade port of Freehold.

Sneed's Old Shredder. Sneed used to be the chief lumberer and carpenter for Edwin VanCleef's Defias Brotherhood in the one of the most popular dungeon Deadmines.

Soggoth the Slitherer is a giant skeleton half burried in sand with huge sword sticking out of his head. He used to a powerful Old God general but many many years ago got slain when the titans were tidiyng the plant up and sweeping the Old Gods away.

Sonya Shadowdancer is pretty mysterious, as any rogue should be. Unique to HS.

Spiritsinger Umbra is pretty unique to HS, along with all the other tortollans. BUT looks like Blizzard added them in the upcoming WoW expansion, so she might have a cameo, we'll see.

Stalagg is a beefed up zombie Kel'Thuzad keeps in Naxxramas. By the way, Thaddius is an abomination stiched up exclusively from dead women and children. Kel'Thuzad is a creep.

Sunkeeper Tarim is one of the tol'vir, the titanic race tasked with safe keeping the titan facilities in the south part of Azeroth. After the titans left they allied themselves with Al'akir, the Windlord. For some reason during the Un'Goro Madness instead of Sunkeeper Tarim, they added Sunkeeper Croesus in the game. Most likely an oversight.

Swamp King Dred is a massive devilsaur the ice trolls of Northrend kept, because first, the trolls love dinosaurs and second, they noticed he was immune to the undead scourge and believed his pressence would cure the surrounding lands.(see Moorabi episode)

Sylvanas Windrunner. The best for last. Sylvanas was one of the high general of High Elves when Prince Arthas and his army of undead attacked her homeland. She got killed by Arthas himself and he raised her undead just to mock her suffering. When Lich King's control over his minions weakened, Sylvanas managed to break free and reclaim her free will. She used this to rally other free undeads and tried to kill Arthas. The free undeads named themselves the Forsaken and later joined the Horde, as Alliance dissowned them, because they were ugly and rotting and just not cool. Her and her people main goal was to avenge themselves from Prince Arthas and the Lich King. After she helped slay him, she founs out her purpouse in life was gone, so she focused on further millitary action. She ordered the forsaken to reclaim more and more former humans land for them until one day struck down the walls of Gilneas, the worgen kingdom and made an enemy for life in form of Gilneas king Genn Greymane. During the third demon invasion, Horde warchief Vol'jin dies and in his last breath appoints Sylvanas the horde leader. There's plenty more, Sylvanas is a huge fan favourite, but I find all her story to be a bit too edgy for me. Alleria is also her sister btw.
