| Control Warlock to Legend Guide. To Fear the Clear Posted: 19 Mar 2018 07:23 PM PDT Hello! I made legend with this fun version of control warlock. First time writing a guide so feel free to ask questions. Why Control Warlock? If you: *Are looking for a skill intensive deck with satisfying last gasp wins *Are sick of all the Cubelock *Enjoy playing late game decks *Love to watch the opponent's board melt. (8-10) clear board cards *Enjoy great matchups against the meta and get free wins against Druids Always the Control This is a hard deck to master but contains enough firepower to take down any deck in the meta. It's fun and suprisingly straightforward due to the nature of its gameplan. 99% of the decks you will be facing will be the beatdown while you maintain the control. Well isn't that too slow? One would assume as that's usually the case but this deck curves out very well with 4 one, 4 two, and 4 three drops. Throw the 10 board clears (6 of which are sub-4 costs) and it's usually possible to make it to the late game. Record (Rank 5-Legend): 46-29 (61.3%) Matchups Warlock (11-9): Cubes are tough but containable. A good spellbreaker is key (use it on a cube or to prevent a possed lackey from popping). In the mirror it's usually about whoever gets off their Rin and seals off first. Luckily we run 2 Stonehill defenders for more chances to curve her out. Priest (8-7): Priests are okay if you maintain board at all times. Easier said than done but sometimes I will hard mulligan for Skulking Geist or Rin if my hand is lacking. Dragon is easier than Big Priest because of the high roll power. Mage (7-6): Aluneth mage is easy if you mulligan and curve out correctly. Death Knight Jaina is tough. Make sure that as soon as Rin enters your hand you try to burn your opponent's deck. Same thing against quest mage. Paladin (8-4): Sick matchup and my losses were usually due to horrible draws or ridiculously strong adaptation turns. The despicable dreadlords are key to dude matchups and murlocs usually die to a well timed defile. Hunter (6-1): Very easy matchup. The one loss was when my opponent high-rolled some very nice cards from his weapon and was able to burn me down before 10. Druid (5-0) Almost a free win. Skulking Geist destroys them and there is no coming back from it. I usually mulligan my entire hand looking for it but that's probably not even necessary with all of the taunts and board clears. Warrior (1-1): I lost to a pretty interesting pirate warrior deck. Pretty dead class though and I hardly saw any. No Shaman and no Rogues during the whole climb Flex spots Spellbreaker is pretty crucial and I can see the argument for 2 if you see the meta is demanding such. Maybe cut a tar creeper. I can also see plated beetle swapped out for another 2 drop such as gnomeferatu or vulgar homunculus but personally I'm keeping my beetles. Thanks for reading!
